A Pocket Guide to Paleontology

How the Pros Dig Dinos

Cover.png

Career education is becoming more prevalent in modern day schooling, so I propose creating a line of educational books for elementary school children ages 5-10 about career opportunities. in each book, the Martinez family and  their dog would learn about a specific career. The children, a boy and a girl, would be equally interested as to not reinforce restricted gender norms. Girls can be chemists and boys can be nurses.

A Pocket Guide to Paleontology: How the Pros Dig Dinos is for children interested in dinosaurs to learn more about how the study of dinosaurs could become their career. In this book, a family of three come across a dinosaur bone while on a hike with their dog. The family become citizen scientists and help with the excavation process of the dinosaur fossil. This story follows the fossil from the moment of discovery to the assembly in the museum.

Whose Home is This?

As a kid, my parents took me on hikes and taught me all about the natural world. I was always asking about the different plants and animals. I wanted to know where the different animals lived and why. Why do birds live in nests? How you can you tell a snake's hole from a burrow from a warren? Whose Home is This broaches these questions in a peaceful walk through the woods.

A little girl takes a walk through the forest and learns all about natural habitats. In every pair of pages, she discovers something like a nest of twigs or a little hole in the ground. Then, she learns about what kind of animals lives there like a song bird or a warren of rabbits. At the end of the book, she returns home to her beautiful cabin in the forest for lunch.
